When I purchased this bottle back at the beginning of my journey into serious wine interests, I definitely expected more.
Looking back, I think I was rather naive and most certainly I spent too much money. Ah well, live a little and learn a lot.
A blend of grapes sourced from around the Okanagan (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet France, Malbec and Petit Verdot), this Meritage blend was opened in July 2015 making it just short of 9 years old.
A bonafide Meritage with deep garnet and no rim with an intense nose of cherry and blueberry with sweet vanilla pod and pie.
The palate is dry with average acidity, ripe tannins and high alcohol. The flavours show boysenberry, blueberry, black cherry and purple plum with heavy vanilla, tobacco leaf and sweet cooking spice.
This wine is, to be honest, disappointing. It has turned out to be nothing more than an unbalanced, sweet fruit bomb with high alcohol.
Simple and sweet with no complexity – WSET Acceptable.
You’ve come a long way baby!
