WSET + Systematic Approach to Tasting

I have earned the WSET* Diploma and my tasting note posts are
Printwritten using the SAT or ‘Systematic Approach to Tasting‘ method.

This consists of a note about the look, smell and taste of the wine/spirit plus a comment about the conclusion.

The ratings include –

Outstanding – rare
Very Good – many fall here
Good – most fall here
Acceptable – it’s ‘doing its job’
Faulty – do not drink, run

I usually try to include something about the wine, the terroir, the viticultural or vinicultural practices that have been used to produce it, or something about the winemaker(s) in the note.

Excited to have found your blog! 🙂 I just started studying for the Diploma (Unit 2 exam is 6/30!) and I’m looking forward to reading your tasting notes so the SAT keeps getting drilled into my brain. 😉

You are such a fantastic writer! I’ve tried several of the wines you’ve recommended and although my palette is no where near as refined as yours, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed everyone. Thank you Winellama!!!
