If violet coloured velvet were a wine, it would be this one.
Plush and sensuous, it’s made with 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and a smattering of Malbec. The grapes came from three separate vineyards.
On the eyes it’s a deep ruby with tinges of purple and fat legs. The nose is complex with blueberry, Damson plum, boysenberry, pastry and vanillin with baking spice. The longer it sat in the glass, the more I reminisced about fresh boysenberry or blueberry pie. Who needs dessert?
On the palate, it’s dry with ripe and silky tannins and although the alcohol is high, it’s balanced completely with the layered flavours and aromas. It’s got a medium acidity and flavours show more blue and purple berries, black cherry, orange oil, a little herb, cinnamon and pie with a long and sumptuous finish.
WSET Very Good plus and absolutely delicious.
I alway knew they should call a wine Palmer… And it would be “Velvety violety smooooth” Like me 😉
Miss you guys..

Dear Ms. Llama,
Thank you for the fantastic review! It’s making us want to crack a bottle again – been awhile since we laid down the 2011. Keep up the good work.
Kindly,

Hello Sara! In the 3 years I’ve been doing this and keeping track of the bottles I open and enjoy, you are THE FIRST winery to respond to a tasting note I’ve posted! Thank you! Winellama (aka Lindsay)
