This bottle of Qupé flew to Saltspring Island, BC from Menlo Park, California and almost didn’t make it onto the plane due to someone forgetting it was actually in the hand luggage. Oops.
In the post-911 flying era, one never likes to be the person who mistakenly leaves two bottles of gorgeous red wine in their carry-on, thus becoming the reluctant target of the indignant screening guard.
The good news is it got here and we enjoyed Bob Lindquist’s efforts immensely.
Medium ruby with remarkably even legs, it shows aromas of boysenberry, blueberry, rosemary and thyme with leather.
The palate is dry with more deep flavours of blue fruit, crunchy, dried herbs, kid glove and a cured salami.
Plush, complex and with a long finish, this is WSET Very Good.
